You will go through tough times, it’s inevitable. And this really is because you cannot control everything that happens in your life. In these challenging situations, a positive mindset is the most important thing that you need to do. A positive mindset helps you find solutions and gives you persistence through hardship.
In order to stay positive and resilient, you need your mind to visually have ideas of better outcomes. Here are 5 things/affirmations to remember:
- Everything ends.
You always think that the bad times will never end, and mostly because you don’t want them to continue. But when you put it into the perspective of everything, even good times end as well.
Our minds tend to expand the length of time with bad times, then the good. Hence why you feel like the bad times are longer.
However, even the worst kind of situations end at some point. Sometimes it’s you that makes it end or you need help to make them end.
2. There are things that you are grateful for.
When things aren’t going well, write a list of the things that you are grateful for and keep them with you at all times. Either put them in your phone or on a sheet of paper in your wallet.
For example, you might have lost your job, but you have your health and family around you. Feeling grateful gives you strength and the ability to ease the anxiety.
Even the smallest things like being able to walk, money for coffee, sight and having a conversation with others. These are things that some people don’t have the ability to achieve, and it puts your mind into perspective that life could be worse. Life is worth appreciating.
3. Think about Challenges that you’ve overcome before.
One of the most powerful feelings is overcoming and accomplishment. And we often forget about these when I mind is thinking about the negative. Take a moment to think about similar situations that you went through in the past and where you overcame it. You will find more than one example, as we humans thrive on accomplishment.
This action will help motivate you and you will get up again!
4. There is already Strength in you!
When times are tough, we always think that we are weak and that nothing can be achieved. We stop seeing all our strengths and become more aware of our habits and flaws. But in reality, you have an equal number of strengths and weaknesses, it’s just that you see the weaknesses first.
To feel empowered, focus on your strengths first. Write them down, put them in front of you to read every day. This will give you confidence in yourself and it will help you remember times that you have shown strength and conquered.

Personal development is a lifelong process that helps upskill yourself so that you can reach your full potential. And the best personal development is going through life lessons and learning from them. We see most personal development situations as a failure, but that is not the case. We experience life to learn and to overcome. You may not feel like you are on the right path, but in the future, you will see that everything in your past has put you on the right path.
Being negative or positive. And remember to never give up, this is the best advice you can give yourself in any situation.
