We are fortunate enough to have Lili Alaska join us again for Mini Blitz on the 10th of April 2022 at Bondi Markets. This year she is joined by fellow musician Xavier Wilson who also is an amazing artist and songwriter.

Read below for their full bio and then come by on the 10th of April to witness their amazing talent.

Lili Alaska Bio:
Lili Alaska is a 17-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer. She found influences in Blondie, Lana Del Rey, Courtney Barnett, The Smiths, Fleetwood Mac, Grimes, Patti Smith, Nico… Lili Alaska has her own sound and original Art Pop and Avant-Garde identity, using intricate layering of vintage sounds, synths, guitar riffs, and vocals which accentuate her profound and meaningful lyrics often inspired by poetry. Her first EP and singles have received a great reception on Triple J Unearthed, FBI, 2SER, Quiet Fire, RTRFM, and many other well-loved community radios.
The Australian Independent Record Labels Association selected Lili Alaska for the Women in Music 2020 after she released her single Leaving the Mind Behind featured Single of the Week. Lili Alaska kept working on her songwriting with Lindy Morrison, Brendan Gallagher, Tia Gostelow, and Sally Seltmann.
Early 2021, Lili Alaska released L’amour par la fenêtre, a pop-rock ode to Love adapted from French poet Arthur Rimbaud’s cult collection Illuminations. She performed the song at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney supported by ABC Radio National. The single became the official song of the French Film Festival Aotearoa 2021 and the trailer was broadcasted nationwide in New Zealand’s movie theatres. Lili Alaska was selected for the APRA Professional Development Awards 2021 and 2022 and the Talent Development Project.
Lili Alaska is regularly performing on stage and opened for the So Frenchy So Chic Festival alongside Mick Harvey and Ali Barter in Melbourne in February 2022.
Music magazine Cool Accidents named Lili Alaska one of the 10 groundbreaking musicians under 21 to watch. Her music is available on all music platforms for streaming (Spotify, Apple music, Tidal, Deezer…).

Xavier Wilson Bio:
Xavier Wilson is a 15-year-old musician currently playing guitar for Lili Alaska. He focuses on guitar but also plays saxophone and drums. His father Chris is his biggest mentor and inspiration in music, being the person who taught Xavier how to play.

Xavier began his musical journey with hard rock and heavy metals bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, KISS, and Van Halen, but over time found love for softer artists like Dire Straits, JJ Cale, and The Meters. This led him to discover and fall in love with Steely Dan, whose use of jazz chords and funk grooves elevated his musical knowledge, as he would constantly learn the guitar parts for their classic songs. As a result, he has recently expanded his guitar playing by developing skills in Jazz, through listening and playing along to such contemporary artists as Larry Carlton, Chuck Loeb, Fourplay, and George Benson. These artists have heavily influenced Xavier’s playing and songwriting, as he creates guitar-focused pieces that utilise elements of jazz fusion. Xavier writes and records every part of his songs himself and is always pushing to better himself in the skill of recording and producing. His original songs are available to listen to on Soundcloud.
