From Training to Employment: How WAYS Youth Training Helps You Start Your Caree

Not sure what’s next after school? We’ve got you.

Finishing school and figuring out what to do next can feel overwhelming. Maybe TAFE or university doesn’t seem like the right fit, or you’re just not sure where to start. You’re not alone—many young people feel this way when thinking about their future. That’s where WAYS Youth Training comes in.

We offer real-world training designed for young people aged 15–25 who want practical skills, small class sizes, and support to find a job. Our courses are nationally recognised and Smart Skills-funded by the NSW Government, making them an affordable and valuable step towards employment.

So, how do we help young people turn training into a career?

More Than Just a Certificate: We Prepare You for Work

At WAYS Youth Training, we don’t just give you a certificate—we help you get ready for real jobs. Here’s what makes us different from other training programs:

  • Small class sizes – You get personal attention and support.
  • Individual learning plans – We help you set goals based on your strengths.
  • Career-focused training – Our courses are designed to match real job opportunities.
  • One-on-one coaching – We guide you on how to apply for jobs, write a resume, and succeed in interviews.

We make sure every student gets practical skills that can actually be used in a workplace.

Industry-Recognised Courses That Lead to Jobs

The right training opens doors to new opportunities. Our courses are designed to prepare you for high-demand industries, so you can start working sooner.

Some of our most popular courses include:

  • Certificate II in Workplace Skills – Great for office, admin, and customer service jobs.
  • Certificate III in Business – Perfect for people who want to work in offices or start their own business.
  • Certificate II & IV in Community Services – Ideal for those interested in social work and helping others.
  • Diploma of Community Services – A more advanced option for those looking at long-term careers in community work.
  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care – Prepares you for jobs in childcare and education.
  • Certificate III in Retail – Get job-ready for retail and customer service roles.

With government funding available, many of these courses are low-cost or free for eligible students.

Career Support That Goes Beyond the Classroom

Getting a qualification is important—but knowing how to find a job is just as crucial. That’s why we provide:

  • Resume and interview coaching – Learn how to stand out to employers.
  • Mentorship and career advice – Get guidance on what career path might be right for you.
  • Personal development workshops – Build confidence in areas like public speaking, teamwork, and time management.

We help you build the skills you need to feel confident stepping into the workforce.

What Comes Next? Pathways Beyond WAYS

Not sure if you want to go straight into work? No problem. Many of our students use their qualifications to go further, whether that means:

  • Continuing training at TAFE or university
  • Doing an apprenticeship or traineeship
  • Starting work while gaining on-the-job experience

Our team will work with you to find the best path forward based on your skills and interests.

The Middle Ground Between an OOSH and an Activity Hub

We do more than just ‘keep children busy.’ At WAYS, we’re all about creating an environment that sparks curiosity, fosters independence, and encourages children to learn and grow.

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of a supportive OOSH and an engaging activity hub, you’ve come to the right place! We are focused on teaching life skills that will equip children and young people to meet the demands of their ongoing development with strength, confidence, and curiosity. Within a relaxed and safe environment, our passionate staff work with our OOSH children to help them learn and engage with a wide range of new activities. This combination looks like:

  • Mondays: Innovation Club Dive into robotics, electronics, and Insta-inspired cooking classes—perfect for curious minds ready to experiment and innovate.
  • Tuesdays: Bondi Skate & Play Day (Fortnightly) Grab your wheels for free skating along the Bondi promenade or at our rooftop skate ramps. No formal lessons here—just spontaneous fun! Plus, we’ll set up the BBQ, hit the playground, or play beach volleyball if you prefer to stay off wheels.
  • Wednesdays: Cooking Club & Soccer A chance to learn practical cooking skills and, on alternate weeks, join a friendly game of soccer to burn off some energy and have a blast with friends.
  • Thursdays: Youngtrepreneurs Business Club Encourage your child’s creativity and entrepreneurial spirit as they create their own business ideas and prepare to sell products at the Bondi Markets once a term.
  • Fridays: Mixed Activities & Fun Fridays are all about variety—think boxing, virtual reality games, or local excursions. It’s a perfect way to cap off the school week with fun and adventure!

(Please note: Exact schedules may change each term, so be sure to check our most up-to-date timetable!)

With a program that’s firmly focused on relationships and socialisations, we’re proud to support our OOSH children emerging and current interests within a safe and encouraging environment. For many children who attend WAYS OOSH, the skills they learn there can translate into a supported high school transition in years to come.

From Robotics to Slime and Beyond: A Week of Hands-On Adventures at OOSH

At OOSH, our children are supported to engage with specialised programs that provide hands-on experiences in all manner of areas. For example, Mondays in Term 1 are focused on Innovation Club, where children are able to take part in robotics, electronics, and Insta-inspired cooking classes. On Tuesday, we move into Sensory Sensations, exploring the world of slime, cloud dough, and more. Wednesdays are focused on the Cooking Club and fortnightly soccer matches, while Thursdays see us running the Youngtrepreneurs Business Club. Here, OOSH children are encouraged to create their own businesses and prepare to sell products at the Bondi Markets once a term. On Fridays, we’ll be busy enjoying boxing and VR. And that’s in a single week!

Where After-School Fun Becomes Real-World Skills

We’re passionate about supporting OOSH childrens’ developing independence within a safe and supportive environment. When paired with ongoing opportunities for exploration of these skills at home, this can contribute to a dynamic and evolving learning experience for children and parents alike, one day at a time.

Our vision is to learn, create, inspire and excite. That means our goals include:

  • Providing an open learning environment where children are inspired to try new activities
  • Protecting the safety of that environment with caring, professional and passionate staff
  • Enable a valuable education experience where children are able to make new friends while learning new things
  • To always provide an exciting environment full of interactive activities, one that encourages problem-solving, enjoyment and innovation
