A true story to inspire

Jack, 17, finished Year 12 at WAYS Secondary. Eighteen months ago, that outcome looked impossible.

(Name changed due to privacy)

By Year 10, school had become a place Jack was no longer attending. Anxiety, low academic esteem, gaps in his learning, family challenges, and a growing sense of falling further behind meant mainstream classrooms no longer felt possible.

What changed was not a single intervention, but a place where the pieces of Jack's life could come together under one roof. A school where teachers knew his name, understood his story, and helped him begin to see that he is more capable than he ever imagined.

Smaller class sizes meant Jack could be seen, supported, and re-engage with learning at a pace that made sense for him. Just a few steps away, at WAYS Wellness, he and his family could access a psychologist or case manager without a referral or a Medicare plan: support when it was needed, not when systems allowed.

In 2026 Jack is studying at UTS, an outcome he never imagined. Until he found WAYS.

Jack's mother wrote:

"I just wanted to thank you for giving Jack this amazing opportunity and for creating such an incredible warm and safe school environment. He's thriving, learning, and reconnecting with life and school in a way I honestly didn't think was possible. Truly, you have transformed my life just as much as his!"

A message from our CEO

From Dr Terri Said

At WAYS, everything we do is made possible by the valued community around us—and you are part of that community. It is a privilege to witness the transformation in our young people and students, made possible through the generous support from our donors.

While government funding helps, it doesn't cover the full wraparound care our young people and students rely on, your donation helps fund: access to our tertiary courses and to highly specialised staff, meals, excursions, essential quality facilities and resources.

Every young person and family comes to us with different needs: a place to feel safe to re-engage with learning, practical support with essentials, or help navigating complex challenges at home.

If WAYS matters to you, we warmly invite you to invest in this impact with a 100% tax-deductible donation before June 30th. Any amount helps WAYS continue this impactful work for young people and families in your community.

Thank you sincerely to our past donors and to those donating this year,

Dr Terri Said
