The HSC is two of the most demanding years in a young person’s life. At WAYS, students face them in small classes, with a teacher who knows them well, and with wellbeing support built into every single day.
Students cannot join WAYS for Year 12 only. The HSC journey at WAYS begins in Year 11 and that matters. By the time Year 12 arrives, students know their environment, trust their teacher, and have already proven to themselves that they belong here.
95% of students who start Year 12 at WAYS graduate with their HSC. Students have achieved distinction and merit list results across multiple subjects including Maths, English Standard, Society and Culture, and Modern History. 59% of last year’s graduates were accepted into a university of their choice.
These are not the outcomes most of our students expected when they first enrolled. That is the point.
Year 11 is where the HSC journey begins at WAYS. Students settle into their Preliminary course in a calm, focused environment with a teacher who knows where each student is and what they need. A Year 11 Information Evening is held annually for students and families.
By Year 12, students have the confidence, the relationships, and the support system to perform at their best. 95% graduate with their HSC. Many go on to achieve results that genuinely surprise them and the people who know them.
59% of last year’s graduates were accepted into a university of their choice. 27% went directly into TAFE or employment. From 2026, WAYS will offer careers workshops covering job applications, resume writing, and interview preparation for Year 12 students.
WAYS delivers the full NSW Stage 6 curriculum. Every student works toward the same HSC as students at any school in NSW. WAYS is NESA accredited and the qualification our students earn is identical to any mainstream school.
For students who want to study subjects not offered at WAYS, distance education is available subject to Principal approval. Students are advised to apply at the end of Year 10 or in January at the latest.

A message from Dr Terri Said, Principal
The HSC is two years. That is it. Two years to show what a young person is capable of when they are properly supported, genuinely known, and given a real chance to perform.
I am deeply proud of what our Year 11 and 12 students achieve. Not just the results, though those speak for themselves. I am proud of the courage it takes to enrol in a new school at the start of senior study. I am proud of the students who arrive in Year 11 having been told, explicitly or implicitly, that they are not university material, and who leave Year 12 with offers in hand.
Fifty-nine percent of last year’s graduates were accepted into university. Ninety-five percent completed their HSC. Those are not numbers we chase. They are what happens when young people are taught in an environment that takes them seriously.
If your child wants to do the HSC and needs a school that will actually get them there, I would welcome the conversation.
Dr Terri Said Principal and CEO, WAYS Youth & Family
The HSC is two years. At WAYS, your child does not face them alone. If you think this could be the right environment, we would love to have a conversation.
