A parent and teenager in the kitchen in the evening, not talking

Sound familiar?

You’ve asked twice. The door is shut. Again.

Most parents of teenagers are not short on love or effort. They are short on a strategy that works at 7pm on a Tuesday, when everyone is tired and the same argument is starting for the fourth time this week.

  • Every conversation turns into a negotiation, and you are losing.
  • You swore you would stay calm this time. You didn’t.
  • The phone is the battleground and you are out of leverage.
  • You can see something is wrong, and they will not tell you what.
  • You are parenting the way you were parented, and it isn’t landing.

Questions

Questions people ask us.

Is it really free?

Yes, and it is now fully booked. The theatrette holds a limited number and we have reached it. You can join the waiting list for our next parenting workshop below.

Do I bring my teenager?

No — this one is for the adults. Parents speak more freely when their young person isn’t in the room.

My child is 9. Or 18. Can I still come?

The seminar is designed for parents and carers of tweens and teens aged 10 to 17. If your young person sits just outside that range you are still welcome.

Do I need a referral?

No. No referral, no diagnosis, no paperwork.

What if I have to miss it?

Let us know and we will tell you when the next one runs. WAYS also runs a free four-week Effective Parenting Course a couple of times a year.

Is this therapy?

No. It is an educational and skills-building session. If you want individual support for your family, the WAYS Wellness Centre offers counselling and case management for young people aged 12–24 and their families.

Can I bring a friend or my co-parent?

Anyone already booked in is welcome to bring their co-parent, but we cannot take new bookings for this session.
