What today actually delivers

Four things they get. Four reasons you’ll be glad.

Every WAYS Vacation Care day pairs a real activity with a real outcome for you. Here’s both for this day.

The ranger
Someone who actually knows the bush.
Ranger Jamie Tours run the day and supply the risk assessment. It opens with a talk about why places matter and how we protect them, then the children get straight into it, asking questions the whole way.
The rotation
Four hands-on activities, not one.
Bug catching with camouflage face paint and identification sheets. Hand-reel fishing, taking samples and using scientific tools to work out whether the water is healthy. Building animal habitats from sticks and bark. And a waterways activity that gets everyone thoroughly slimy.
The logistics
Harbour bushland and beach, all in one place.
Educators with them the whole way, transport and entry included. Pack a change of clothes.
The support
Every child gets a real go.
The children work in small teams, so the quiet one gets a jar and a hand-reel as often as the loud one.
The Day

A ranger, a harbour beach, and four things they’ve never done.

Real stories from the WAYS family.

We’ve tried a few holiday programs around the east. This is the first one where my son asks if he can go back the next day. The excursions are the difference.

Drop off at 8, pick up by 6, and everything in between is handled. As a working parent that’s exactly what I need. Booking was easy too.

My daughter is on the shy side and I was nervous about the big days out. The educators kept me in the loop, and by the end of the week she didn’t want to leave.

Questions

What parents ask before booking.

If yours isn’t here, message Sarah, our enrolments officer. She’ll text you back the same business day.

Text Sarah · 0433 245 322
What if my child has allergies or dietary needs?
Every enrolment captures allergies and dietary needs in advance, and meals are labelled. Our educators are First Aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis trained.
How do they get there, and what about food?
Drop-off and pickup is always at the centre: The Russell King Building, 63a Wairoa Ave, North Bondi, from 8am until 6pm. We travel to venues together with our educators, using the best option for each day (city venues are usually public transport). Morning and afternoon tea are provided. Pack a lunchbox and water bottle each day, and on some days a treat is part of the program.
My child is 6, or 13. Can they still come?
Vacation Care is designed for children aged 7 to 12, and places are offered to that age group first.

If your child is 6, get in touch before you book. Whether it works depends on the day, the venue and the group, and some excursions set their own age or height minimums, so we look at each child individually rather than giving a blanket answer.

Message Sarah on 0433 245 322 or email [email protected] and she will give you a straight answer the same business day.
What if I need to cancel?
Plans change. Give Sarah at least 7 days’ notice and we can move or credit your booking, no drama. Inside 7 days the day is charged as booked, and government CCS rules apply to late cancellations.
Can I just book one day, or all 9?
Book any combination. One day, all 9, or just the days you need. Each day stands alone with its own program.
How do you handle safety on excursions?
Small groups with qualified educators. Every team member is Working with Children verified, and educators are First Aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis trained. Headcount at every transition point, and updates go to parents through the OWNA app.
