Term 3 Program Update

Shaped by our children & families

Hi Families,

As we prepare for Term 3, we wanted to share an update on our program and some of the exciting opportunities we are working on.

Throughout this term, we have been gathering feedback from children about the clubs, excursions and activities they have enjoyed, what they would like to see more of, and ideas they would like us to explore in the future. We have also been checking in with families to understand what has been working well and how we can continue to make our program engaging, meaningful and practical for everyone.

This feedback has helped shape our Term 3 program, allowing us to continue the activities children already love while introducing new opportunities based on their interests.

We know every child has different interests, and we may not capture every idea straight away. If there is something your child has suggested that you feel hasn’t been included, please let us know — we are always happy to hear feedback and keep building the program alongside our children and families. Our goal is to create a program that children are excited to attend, while also ensuring it works well for families and their schedules.

🏃 MondaysInnovation Club & City2Surf Training +

Mondays will continue with Innovation Club and City2Surf Training.

City2Surf is now sold out, but WAYS still has tickets available for children who would like to participate. If your child is interested in joining, please contact the team to register and organise a ticket through WAYS.

This term, our focus will continue to be on:

  • Building personal bests (PBs).
  • Tracking individual goals and progress.
  • Learning pacing strategies.
  • Understanding the difference between sprint pace and long-distance pace.

Children will continue to have opportunities to challenge themselves through weekly goals and activities based on their own abilities. For children looking for an additional challenge, we will continue supporting them with personal targets and progress markers.

🏟️ Exploring track access

We are exploring access to an athletics track through Little Athletics. Stepping onto a proper track, practising pacing and experiencing a race-style environment can help build confidence, motivation and excitement leading into City2Surf. This would not replace Innovation Club or happen every week — we are hoping to offer it a few times through the term as we get closer to race day. Race pacing will be based on the children taking part, with both a walking group and a running group available.

🤸 TuesdaysSensory Creations & Gymnastics / Movement +

Our Tuesday program will continue with Sensory Creations and Gymnastics/Movement.

We are always looking at ways to expand our movement opportunities and are exploring the use of additional spaces, including the Bondi Scout Hall next door, to create more room for gymnastics and movement activities.

Sensory Creations will continue to focus on creative, hands-on experiences that support confidence, problem solving, creativity and wellbeing.

🌿 WednesdaysCentennial Park Nature Program +

Our Wednesday Nature Program continues to grow, and we are excited about the opportunities this creates.

The program has received funding again for Term 3 and, due to increasing enrolments, we have also secured funding for an additional educator. Together with access to two vehicles (including a dedicated Bondi Beach vehicle), this gives us more flexibility in how we structure our afternoons.

This means we can:

  • Better coordinate transport.
  • Support smoother arrival times back at the centre.
  • Create more opportunities for child-led exploration.

We know that while many children love exploring outdoors, some also benefit from quieter moments and downtime. The additional staffing and transport flexibility lets us provide more choice within the program, including nature play and Wild Play experiences when suitable.

🎨 ThursdaysGraffiti Art, Business Club & Seniors Club +

Thursdays are one of our busiest afternoons, with a wide range of ages and interests across the program. Some children are passionate about art and enjoy developing their creativity through graffiti and street art, and there has been growing interest from children wanting more opportunities to scooter. Rather than choosing one over the other, we are looking at ways to combine these interests.

🎨 Graffiti Art & Street Art

Children will continue exploring street art techniques, creative design and visual storytelling. We are also exploring opportunities to visit the local art wall and learn more about community street art, with the possibility of developing a street art project.

  • Take inspiration from local artwork.
  • Develop street art concepts.
  • Explore lettering, design and creative expression.
  • Work on collaborative pieces.

🛹 Scooter Opportunities

Children have asked for more opportunities to scooter, so we are looking at introducing Scooter Feature Day workshops throughout the term. These may include:

  • Scooter sessions.
  • Skill development.
  • Visiting the graffiti wall for inspiration.
  • Combining movement and creativity through urban culture.

⭐ Seniors Club

With Thursdays being a particularly busy day across a variety of ages, we want to ensure our older children have a space that feels like their own. Seniors Club will provide dedicated time for older children to connect, relax and take part in age-appropriate activities.

While some children will continue to be involved in Business Club, Seniors Club will also provide opportunities beyond this based on their interests — this may include baking, creative projects, games, challenges or other ideas they would like to explore. The focus is creating a space where our older children feel comfortable, valued and engaged.

📚 FridaysSquash & Library +

Our Friday Squash and Library program will continue.

We know children enjoy having balance at the end of the week — opportunities to be active while also having time to slow down, make choices and enjoy a more relaxed afternoon. Friday gives children a chance to participate at their own pace and finish the week feeling connected and refreshed.

🌟 Coming soonSpecial Feature Days +

We are currently finalising our Special Feature Days for Term 3 and will share these with families shortly. These will include additional themed experiences, workshops and activities throughout the term.

🔭 Looking ahead

We already have some exciting ideas developing for later in the year as we move into spring and summer, and we look forward to continuing to build on what children enjoy.

📅 Term 3 bookings

Bookings will roll over as usual. If you would like to make any changes to your child’s permanent bookings for Term 3, log in to the OWNA Portal:

Log in to the OWNA Portal →

Not sure how? See the step-by-step “Request to Change Days” guide →

Olive will also be contacting families over the coming days to check in, support with any booking updates, and make sure everything is in place for the new term. It’s a great chance to ask any questions and help us start Term 3 smoothly.

If your child has any ideas, interests or activities they would love to see included, please let us know. We love building the program around children’s voices and creating experiences they genuinely look forward to each week.

Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,
The WAYS OOSH Team
